Network
Design &
Implementation
Networking
is the Joining
of Two or more
Computers so
that they can
share
information
between them.
Sounds pretty
boring, but
actually is
fundamental to a
business or home
with 1+
Computer. It
allows the
sharing of
internet
services on all
of the
computers, and
allows the
sharing of
files, programs
and other
content to
enable you to
work more
efficiently.
Traditionally,
networking
involved running
cables from each
computer,
through walls
and roofs to a
switching device
that enabled the
computers to
talk.
Recently,
Wireless
Networks have
really taken
off, and have
seen good
improvements
with speed,
reliability,
security
and range.
Wireless
networks are
great for
small/medium
businesses and
homes because
the initial
setup cost can
be lower than
running cables
through walls
and roofs,
allows for very
easy expansion,
and are
flexible. If you
use laptops -
you can move
them throughout
the building and
maintain online
status. If you
ever want to
move PC's around
the office or
home you can
without being
limited to the
location of a
network cable.
Adding an
additional PC to
the environment
is as easy as
installing a
wireless network
card. |
